01 / BACKGROUND

History, language & culture

Aaron studied International Relations at the University of Southern Queensland, where history formed a substantial part of his university education. His studies included ancient Egyptian history, contributing to his understanding of the political, cultural, religious and social forces that shaped one of the world's most remarkable civilisations.

His historical interests extend beyond the monumental achievements of the pharaohs to the everyday experiences of ancient people, their beliefs, language, literature and the written records they left behind. He is particularly interested in how historical sources can help modern audiences understand the lives and perspectives of people who lived thousands of years ago.

Alongside his historical research and writing, Aaron has developed several projects dedicated to sharing the history of ancient Egypt, including Ancient Egypt Kemet, the Ancient Egyptian History Podcast and The Obelisk, an ancient history magazine concept. These projects reflect his commitment to making historical knowledge engaging, accessible and meaningful to a wider audience.

02 / THE INSPIRATION

The Inspiration Behind Scribe

For Aaron, hieroglyphs are far more than beautiful symbols decorating the walls of ancient temples. They are the surviving voices of a civilisation, preserving the names, beliefs, achievements and everyday concerns of people who lived thousands of years ago.

His university studies in ancient Egyptian history, combined with his continuing interest in the Egyptian language and writing system, inspired him to explore how modern technology could make hieroglyphic writing more accessible.

That inspiration led to the creation of Scribe Hieroglyphic Studio, a digital workspace designed to bring together the study of Middle Egyptian, historical research and the creative composition of hieroglyphic inscriptions.

Rather than offering a simple conversion of modern words into Egyptian-looking symbols, Scribe aims to encourage users to engage more deeply with the writing system itself. Through hieroglyphic sign libraries, dictionary references, royal names, transliteration tools and visual composition, the platform provides opportunities for both discovery and practical learning.

03 / THE VISION

Bringing Ancient History into the Digital Age

Aaron believes that studying history should be an active process of questioning, investigating and discovering. Understanding the past requires more than memorising dates and events; it involves exploring the language, ideas and experiences of the people who lived it.

Through Scribe Hieroglyphic Studio, he hopes to bridge the gap between historical scholarship and modern digital technology, providing an approachable environment for students, educators, historians and enthusiasts to explore the written language of ancient Egypt.

His vision is to continue developing Scribe into a valuable educational and creative resource that encourages historical curiosity, supports independent learning and inspires a deeper appreciation of ancient Egyptian civilisation.

The ancient Egyptians left us their words. Scribe is my way of helping people discover, understand and write with them.
